Description

The collapse of the Soviet Union demolishes all things which once held Ukraine together. Among the ashes, lawlessness flourishes as courts of law become shells of order and power, regions are run by armed men, and loyalties are given to the highest bidder.

A young Oleg Khanin, a man bred from a prominent intellectual family, enters this mayhem of violence and greed to become a rising star.  He commands one of Ukraine’s most feared criminal organizations in just a few years. He becomes a pinnacle of wealth, of power, and of fear. Those who follow Oleg do so with obedient allegiance, as Oleg demands his followers be. His enemies grow as his power increases, and trails of bloodshed lead directly to Oleg.

Filled with an insatiable drive for money, control and a life that answers to no one, Oleg becomes less and less the man he once was as each day passes and as he chooses a life of a criminal. Yet, deep inside him, Oleg still senses an internal drive of the man he used to be lingering, not fully disappeared. The tension disrupts his chaotic life and consumes his mind with this one single thought, what is left for him once fear replaces every other reason why anyone would to listen to him? In this journey, love finds him too, but it does not save him.

Inspired by true events, The Black Suit is a psychological crime thriller set in late-Soviet Kiev, following one man’s rise through the criminal underworld and the private struggle that grows more dangerous as his power increases.
